ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS FROM MOTHER GENERALS’S CIRCULAR No. 992
1. Which attitudes must we cultivate in order to live daily relationships with renewed love and hope, the sign that ‘something new’ is happening?
We must cultivate the attitude of forgiveness, listening, acceptance, respect, patience, trust, understanding and overlooking the shortcomings of others. We need to express our love, care and concern for each other in the community and in the mission. Readiness to accept any work given to us and carrying it out with love and dedication. To have a sense of belonging to the community. To become praying persons. To appreciate and uphold each other, to be sensitive to the needs of the other.
2. How can we become more aware of the active and transforming presence of the Holy Spirit in our personal and community experience, in the life of the children, of the young, of the people we meet? What attention of the heart is needed to perceive His voice, His light?
Openness to the Holy Spirit will help us to generate new life by re-living the freshness of our vocation based on joy and missionary openness that was at our origin. Devotion to Mary help of Christians helps us to live our community life like that of the First Community at Mornese.
Forgiveness given taken, Fervent participation in the Holy Eucharist, open and docile disposition will help us to become a transforming agent in the community and in the mission. To have the great desire to seek God and to encounter him in our community life and in the mission.
3. Let us ask ourselves why the encounter, which according to Don Bosco is the key to open hearts, has fallen into disuse in some of our realities?
Lack of spirit of faith and too much of human reasoning, selfishness, lack of submission, overpowering attitude, independent attitude and less dependence. Secrecy should be kept mutually. Openness and sharing is missing on the part of the individuals. At times superiors also does not create a spontaneous atmosphere in the community. Diminishing of genuine interpersonal relationship is another reason. But we need to revive this personal encounter so that our relationship in the community will be strengthened.
